Nikinisha 丹貴二社: refers to the Niukawakami and Kifune shrines in Yamato province and the outskirts of Kyoto, respectively. Both shrines were associated with rainfall from a very early period; the court frequently carried out rites for the arrival and/or the cessation of rain at both shrines.

Jijū 侍従: an attendant that serves close to the throne.
Minamoto no Morofusa 源師房 (1008-1077): A foster son of Fujiwara no Yorimich and grandson of Murakami Tennō. He was also married to Yorimichi’s older sister, and was known as the Tsuchimikado Minister of the Right.
Senji 宣旨: A royal order communicated by the controller’s office.
Kinjiki 禁色: Literally “forbidden colors,” refers to colors that can only be worn by His Majesty or with royal permission, such as red, gold, and purple.
