Fifteenth day, Mizunoene. ¹ It was a clear day. Around the Hour of the Tiger {3-5 a.m.} I went to see His Retired Lordship [Fujiwara no Morozane]. Today he came {to Uji}. His principal wife [Minamoto no Reishi] ² and the Great Kamo Priestess [Princess Reishi] came around the Hour of the Rabbit {5-7 a.m.}. They are said to have taken a salt bath ³ at Seishin’s house. During recent days, I heard he would not visit the palace because he suffered defilement. Today I was called to serve. I visited the palace during the Hour of Dog {7-9 p.m.}, and withdrew after a while.
