Dharma Seal (Hōin) Kakushin was summoned and ordered as follows: [Morozane] should take the precepts. Therefore, he should tell Kasuga shrine about this decision. Ninkaku was abbot of the temple who conferred the precepts and monk Zennin was the chanter. I and everyone below me attended Morozane, including the commissioner of the household. I heard that they followed the procedure of Ujidono [Fujiwara no Yorimichi]. During that time I heard there were many prayers.

The twenty-seventh day. Mizunoe tatsu. 1 It rained with sporadic clear skies. I went to the palace around the Hour of the Snake {10AM-11AM}. I entered via Yōmei Gate and passed through the Kenshun, Senyō, and Katoku Gates. 2 From the open-air room of the Southern Hall, 3 I proceeded through the wooden-floored corridor 4 to arrive at His Majesty’s private residence. In a short while, I went before His Majesty, after which he withdrew. The ceremony in the Southern Hall was as usual. However, I stayed within the blinds and did not take the memorial to the throne. It was necessary to take the memorial, but as I had not carefully read Fujiwara no Michinaga’s diary I did not take it. The memorial in question was taken by the Advisory Captain Sir Minamoto no Kunizane, 5 and the rest proceeded as usual. The inner palace minister was today’s noble-in-charge. I retired to my office after finishing.

The advisor on the Council of State, Middle Captain [Minamoto no] Kunizane attended His Majesty. The bout of grappling ended and I retired [from the palace]. After that, some said there was also a viewing at the Right Headquarters of the Inner Palace Guards. 4

This was passed on by the Advisor on the Council of State Tadanori 2 {as my emissary}. After the obeisance ended, I exited from the east inner gate, and visited the retired sovereign's palace by carriage to express my joyful gratitude. This was passed on by Kuniaki [as my emissary]. 3 After the dance of gratitude 4 ended, because waiting in attendance {on the retired sovereign} was allowed, I danced again {to express my thanks}. I went into the residential palace, sat before His Majesty, and withdrew after a while. However, the Inner Palace Minister has expressed his gratitude and withdrew first, so I had to withdraw after him. Then, I visited the grand senior queen-consort [Fujiwara no Kanshi]. 5 As Lord Ariie 6 passed on the joyful gratitude, I immediately finished the obeisance and waited in attendance before Her Highness, and presented the gift myself.
